The Rental Market is Strong - Long Live the Rental Market!!

I am often asked just how the rental market is faring in this pre- election period; at a time of terrorist attacks and post Brexit rallying. I am pleased to respond, as is always the case in uncertain times, by announcing that the rental market is strong!
So how is the uncertain economy affecting the rental market?
When the population is concerned as to whether they will have a job in the future; that taxes may rise and the pound in the pocket may reduce ... then it is not necessarily a good time to commit to a property purchase or to sell at a possibly reduced price.
The freedom that letting or renting brings is a most attractive option - knowing that at any time you are a maximum of 6 months away from being able to move on or claim your property back.
What are rental prices doing in Winchester and the surrounds?
The rental market is strong .... long live the rental market!! Rents are holding their own and increasing at least in line with the RPI. At Penyards this year so far we have noticed a steady increase of at least 2% on rental renewals and often more when a property is remarketed.
There is no doubt that now and for the foreseeable future the choice to let your property rather than sell is a sensible and secure option, ensuring you can move on with minimal risk.
